About Us

Sawdust Alpacas, LLC is located in Fallon, NV - home of the US Navy Top Gun Training School.  We are about 65 miles SE of Reno and 65 miles East of the capital city of Carson City, NV.  We are about 130 miles West of  Winnemucca, NV and 7 hours North of Las Vegas, NV.  Salt Lake City, UT is also about 7 hours East of us.  

At Sawdust Alpacas, we are always striving to make things easier for us and more enjoyable for visitors.  Since November we have been adding some trees and other shrubbery.  Maybe one of these days we won't look so much like a sand beach in the middle of the desert.   

Harvest Hosts guests are experiencing increases in their travel/living expenses, as most of us are.  So we really appreciate the ones that are able to come spend some time with us.  

Our shearing date this year was  on May 9, 2024. We had about 50 alpacas to shear since we had several other farms joins us.  Shearing is usually  a fun, but exhausting day.  We enjoy the shear crew and the people that are here to help.  Although, this year,  TopKnot Alpaca Care took care of almost everything.  We did have the alpacas ready for them to shear.  When they were done with shearing, trimming toes, teeth and giving yearly shots, we just had to weigh the fiber and get it ready to store until we could figure out what or where to send it for processing.

We welcomed 3 new crias (babies) in 2023.  First was Sawdust's Linden, another boy, in May.  In September, our Kali (first time mom) gave birth to miss Tulip.  10 days later, we welcomed Sawdust's Albizia (another male that we have nicknamed Moose).   He moved to the yearling - 2 year old pen very quickly.   We are expecting 4 crias this year, starting in late August through October. Sawdust's Jessinia will be the first to have her cria after August 15, 2024.  Hopefully, the smoke and high temperatures will not cause the "girls" too many problems.  We are breeding 4 more girls now for June 2025 crias.

Sawdust Alpacas has an Alpaca Sponsorship Program. For a 6 month or a yearly fee, you will be able to sponsor the alpaca of your choice from our group of alpacas. You will receive a sponsorship certificate, copy of AOA Registration, information monthly on your alpaca, etc. Check our the sponsorship pages here for more information. The Alpaca remains in our care and custody - your fees are helping to supply feed, care and veterinary services if needed.
